Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience (COPE)
Camp Lewis, Hibernia NJ | May 19-20
ACTIVITY:
COPE is a Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience. COPE is the BSA version of a “challenge course” or “high ropes course,” a series of challenges that a troop must solve working together. Some of these are done at ground level, some on ropes 18 inches above ground and some 30 feet above ground. COPE usually runs from 8am through 4pm and can be a day trip or part of your weekend at Camp Lewis. Boy Scouts and leaders of all ages can participate on the low course, but they must be thirteen or older to do the high course. The ideal COPE group is 8-36 participants. Depending on staff availability we can schedule as many as three groups of 12 on the course the same day.
The program is open to adults as well and it would be great to have a group of adults participate as a team! There is a program fee of $20 per NNJC participant, which includes the use of the course, equipment, instruction, a certificate and patch upon completion. The goal of COPE is to teach Teamwork, Communication, Leadership, Planning, Problem Solving, Decision Making, Self Esteem, and Trust.
