Campout Leadership Determination:
There is an expectation that the SPL and the ASPL make every effort to attend 75+% of all trips during their terms. Ideally one of them should be on every trip. Due to this expectation and their roles as the primary leadership of the troop, the SPL and ASPL will fill those roles on any campout they attend during their term. In the case where the SPL is not present on a trip, The ASPL will be the SPL for the trip. If neither the SPL or ASPL are present, the SPL will designate a patrol leader who is on the trip to act as the trip SPL. If there are no PLs then the SPL will designate one of the higher ranking scouts as the SPL. The SPL can at his discretion appoint The ASPL or another scout if the ASPL is not on the trip to fill the role of trip SPL. This would be done to allow the SPL to show some additional leadership and help the selected scout understand the SPL role and prepare him if he wants to run for SPL in the future.
