ACTIVITIES

Along with other teams from schools, communities, scout troops, and others, we will participate in a pumpkin throwing event!  In a country fair atmosphere, you will have the opportunity to help fellow scouts prepare our trebuchet, make modifications to improve its performance, and ultimately deliver our best 3 throws in the friendly competition.  We’ll get a close look at Sir Chunks A lot, world-class competitor in the national competition held in Delaware.

SCHEDULE

Friday evening, we’ll depart OLPH just after 6 PM for the drive to the Pocono Raceway site in Pennsylvania.  We’ll have a sandwich in the car, or before arriving at OLPH.  Once there, we’ll establish our campsite and get to work on the trebuchet.  We’ll have a heavy snack in the evening, and get a good night’s sleep.

Saturday, we’ll have breakfast and be on the firing line by 9 AM, with first shots taking place at 9:00 AM. Events continue throughout the day, with third and final round of shooting beginning at 3 PM.  Around 5 PM, we’ll break down and pack our gear.  Departing around 6 PM, we should arrive home between 8 and 9 PM Saturday evening.

CAMPSITE

We’ll have a campsite on the property of Pocono Raceway (NOT inside the stadium/track).  Should be very cool!

FOOD

If you need to cook one or more meals for advancement, this is your opportunity to step up and make it happen!  We need snack Friday, breakfast, lunch, dinner Saturday for the troop!

GEAR

We will be outside for the weekend.  Dress in layers for warming days and cool nights.  We will be tenting on the ground.  Clothing should be appropriate for the weather.  We have a lovely campsite, but it requires a short walk to access.  As this will be a short trip, bring only the equipment which you require.

COST

$ 20.00 which includes camping, admission, and food.
